In September 2011, the Brisbane Club invited us to take part in the sausage sizzle at Bunnings Stafford. This monthly event has fostered teamwork and fellowship among club members while raising awareness for Zonta. With average sales of $800-$1,000 per event, we raised a remarkable $30,000 over 9 months from 2011 to 2013. Logistics involve collecting sausages, onions, bread, and BBQ supplies, requiring teamwork to set up and manage the stalls. Despite weather challenges, this initiative remains a joyful way to support our fundraising goals.

In Sept 2011 we were invited by Brisbane Club to share the sausage zizzle responsibility at Bunnings Stafford every Thursday on alternate months • What have the benefits been? • Teamwork and fellowship – getting to know club members better • Raising the profile and sharing information about Zonta • Contributing to the club’s fundraising • $$$ - average sales takings approx $800-$1,000 each occasion • Donations also given • Net income for 9 months (2011-2013) = $30,000
The logistics • Buyer to order & collect approx 30kg sausages, 10kg onions, 18 loaves of bread, ice, condiments, BBQ supplies • Need two organisers with transport large enough for eskies and goods for sale • At least three willing helpers per shift to work for 4 hrs • Set up 7am and pack up approx 3pm • Wash & clean up • Banking
If you can get a Saturday or public holiday takings can triple – unless it rains!!! Great team
