  2. “People count up the faults of those who keep them waiting.” French Proverb

  3. Waiting that is not God-designed can mean • we are avoiding something difficult • we are procrastinating • we are being disobedient • we are hiding from a responsibility • we are simply experiencing what it means to be human

  4. Godly waiting reveals our hearts

  5. Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. Isaiah 26.8

  6. How much of our lives are lost in waiting?

  7. Godly waiting is movement towards a goal.

  8. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64.4

  9. Waiting is not a substitute for action. Waiting is a type of action. Waiting is God drenched action.

  12. Godly waiting reveals God’s work

  13. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. Habakkuk 2.3

  14. We are waiting for something to change outside ourselves. However real changes begins within.

  15. This period of advent is not a series of events designed to delay the celebration of Christmas, but to enhance our anticipation of a birth. It is a kind of delayed gratification that culminates in a satisfaction that is all the richer for the waiting. Joan Chittister
