  6. We are teachers on the field! • Do you out coach your opponents with lesser talent? • Counters out of multiple formations will give you advantages. • Use Science in your thinking: • Physics • Angles, Force, Leverage, and Center of Gravity • Out work your opponents!

  7. Why do we use Counters? • We are still a base blocking team • Defenses we face have great pursuit • To freeze linebackers • We run a lot of power and toss • High school defenses can be caught off guard fairly easy • Counter Tray is one of our base plays • It’s a numbers game, to the point of attack! • Additional blocker/blockers • Better blocking angles • Allows us to still use all of our blocking angles

  8. Plan and Scout • Your opponent’s initial alignment • Make any adjustments to your blocking schemes • When do you want to run your counter plays? • Down and distance • Run your counter plays with your best players • The best blocking back you have might not be the best back to run your counters • Have multiple counters on your play sheet • Repetition, repetition, repetition!!!!

  9. Counter concerns to ponder? • Counter tendencies! • Don’t be just a third down counter team • Attack to motion, attack away from motion • Have counter pass plays
