Skill Total Score In this prototype for summative assessment, the right side of the chart is a running score of the total scores a student receives in each phase over the course of many projects. This is crude and assumes that number of times through the cycle corresponds to learning. Research is underway that explores this notion. For now, let’s just have this prototype add to the conversation on how we do summative assessment.

  9. Skill Total Score Roughly, this prototype helps indicate which skills this student typically does well and needs to work on. This can help determine group formations and project foci. Obviously this tool becomes more accurate as time goes on, mitigating confounds occurring from potential team grading. These scores do not have be seen as equal. Perhaps one skill is harder to learn. If that is the case, this tool may help determine what areas of design thinking the entire class needs to work on.
