Student Organization Leadership Handbook and Student Organization Officer Resources Website • All student organizations are issued one copy of the handbook • Student Organization Officer Resources website: http://clubs.marshall.usc.edu/soor/ • Includes information on administrative requirements, membership and recruitment, website and technology, financial issues and funding requests, marketing, logistics • Add documents specific to your organization and information about your events (see “Events” and “Club Specific Data” tabs) • Read through this information carefully and refer to it often!

  3. New President Check List • First tab in the Leadership Handbook or on the website • Lots to do before Spring semester ends! • Please work with your outgoing president to gather required information and complete the transition process • It is in your best interest to complete administrative transition tasks before Spring semester ends! • Get this stuff done now! • Thank me later!

  4. Club Presidents, Staff and Faculty Liaison Roster • Leadership Handbook under the “Administrative” tab • Resources website under “Documents” tab • All student organizations are assigned a primary and secondary staff liaison, depending on the lead office for the organization • You should work with your primary staff liaison throughout the year • Secondary staff liaisons are also available to you as a resource • Each organization is responsible for confirming their faculty liaison • Faculty liaisons serve as an additional resource • Time commitment is approximately 5 hours per semester • Confirmed faculty liaisons due to Anne by October 1

Club Charter and Constitution • Every student organization should have a charter (mission statement) and a constitution (by-laws) • Outgoing presidents: please make sure your incoming president has copies of these documents • Incoming presidents: you will need a copy of your constitution for the USC student organization recognition process • Please send the Program Office a copy of your club charter and constitution so that we can keep one on file for the future • If you don’t have your constitution, check with the Program Office to see if we have one on file

  6. USC Student Organization Recognition Process • Required to receive any type of GSG (USC Graduate Student Government) funding - get recognized even if you don’t think you’ll need the funding (you will) • Process opens in early August on Campus Activities website: http://sait.usc.edu/stuorgs/recognized.shtml • Also refer to “Administrative” tab in handbook and Resources website • Five steps to getting recognized: • Online application • Online advisor form • Submit constitution • Submit roster of at least 4 members (usually board members) with USC IDs • Attend a mandatory student organization meeting • May also be a mandatory finance orientation meeting

  7. Board Member Appointments • If you have not yet appointed your board, you should complete this by the end of this semester • Board selection process should be transparent • Consult with your primary staff liaison if needed • Send finalized board member names and titles to your primary staff liaison before departing for PRIME • Fall Club Fair – SAVE THE DATE • Wednesday, August 28th (first week of classes) • All clubs represented

Announcements on JKPtv • Refer to the “Marketing” section of the Leadership Handbook and Resources website • Send announcement as a landscape orientation PPT slide to your program office staff liaison • Use the approved Marshall templates, posted in the “Documents” section of the resources website, whenever possible • Send PPT slide at least 1-2 business days in advance. Include start and end run dates in your email • Easel and Table Placement in JKP • Refer to “JKP Egress” diagram in “Marketing” section of the Leadership Handbook and “Documents” section of Resources website • Easels and tables may not be placed in the area in front of or near the elevators

  9. Use of USC Marshall Name and Logos • Refer to the “Marketing” section of the Leadership Handbook and Resources website • USC graphic identity system: www.usc.edu/identity (for printed or electronic materials) • Marshall Wear has exclusive licensing privileges for any apparel with the USC Marshall name and logo • T-shirts or other apparel for your organization using the Marshall name or associated logos, should be ordered through Marshall Wear • Even if not using Marshall name or logo, consider ordering through Marshall Wear • Will handle your order from design to delivery • Marshall Wear takes small percentage – all proceeds go to C4C! • Takes the stress and hassle out of ordering your items!
