  12. On-site installation(245 kV P type, France)

  13. Installation example(36 kV, line termination & T-branch)

  14. Installation example(72.5 kV separator on 63 kV line, line termination)

  15. OPPC in-line closure • Connects two OPPCs staying on high potential • All parts are identical to the Separator parts • Exception: Main body is a modified top cup • Suitable for the whole voltage level range – 36 kV to 245 kV • Installable on Tension and Suspension towers

  23. SkyWrap & Access Wrap

  24. SkyWrap …. its a proven solution • Approved by major utilities in Europe, Asia and North America • More than 25,000km installed since 1982 • In service in 40+ countries world-wide

  25. Robust and Reliable SkyWrap is not just for today • 30 year design life • In service >20yrs • Maintenance free • Lifetime support from AFL • Meets IEEE1594 SkyWrap is a fully-proven, robust and reliable long-term solution UK - 2005

  26. Installation Topography SkyWrap is in service in challenging environments all over the world with outstanding results Norway - 2001

  27. AccessWrap Access Wrap • AccessWrapis AFL wrap technology for broadband access or distribution networks • Uses SkyWrapexperience and technology to apply fibre optic cables to overhead lines • Optimised for use on MV power distribution lines: • 10kV to 50kV • Post insulators • Small conductors • Wood poles Norway – 33kV

  28. Technology Choice • Classic technology is ADSS – but many disadvantages • Reduces ground clearance • Imposes extra load on poles • Susceptible to vandalism, shotgun, fires and accidental third party damage • Only 1 ADSS per pole

  29. Benefits of AccessWrap • AccessWrap adds small dielectric cable to distribution line • Does not infringe existing clearance • Does not significantly increase loads on poles • Secure – protected from vandals and accidents • Buckshot resistant option • It uses 1 phase out of three • Capacity can be added incrementally

  30. Comparison with SkyWrap

  31. Comparison with SkyWrap • Smaller cable drum • Shorter counterbalance arm • Lightweight machine body • Remote controlled tug not used • Same technology • Smaller & lighter

  32. Meets IEEE1594 • Quick & Clean • Cost-effective • Low Risk • Reliable & secure Summary • Solves difficult access problems • Scaleable • Complete package • Lower environmental impact • Significant advantages over other technologies
