  6. Portfolio Purpose • Vehicle for you to demonstrate deliberative thinking on: • yourachievements and professional development related to INTASC standards • Tool for employment!

  7. Portfolio Requirements • Teaching philosophy • Artifacts and Reflections for 10 INTASC principles • Achievement and growth • Social justice • Resume • Alignment

  8. Some Cautions • Avoid the allure of technological bells and whistles that lack substance. • Importance of reflections. • Show achievement and growth. • Importance of alignment.

  9. Let’s Pause… • Think about the last 3 years. • What are some of your achievements as a beginning educator? • How are you continuing to grow as a beginning educator?

  10. Samples • Go to www10.homepage.villanova.edu/deborah.schussler/portfolio_links.htm • Select a sample portfolio from your content area. Choose 1 partner and critique.

Samples • Is the teaching philosophy adequate and is it evident throughout the portfolio? • Does the portfolio demonstrate achievement and growth? • Are the artifacts appropriate for the standards they address? • Do the reflections provide an adequate rationale for the artifact? (For more info see p. 14) • Do the layout and design make the portfolio appealing and accessible?

  13. Where to Begin • Start collecting artifacts • See Campbell, et al. Chapters 4 & 6, Appendix B • Start playing with TaskStream templates or Frontpage

TaskStream Portfolio Types • Directed Response Folio (DRF) – primarily used for assessment/requirements or certification. • Presentation Portfolio – multiple page website used to showcase skills. Could be thought of as an employment portfolio. • Resource Folio – digital archive or file cabinet which can be organized in a variety of ways.

  15. Some TaskStream Features • Students have 100 MB of storage space on TaskStream’s site. Additional space may be purchased for a nominal fee. • Students have access to their site for approximately 6 months after they graduate. • Students may use TaskStream’s Pack-it-Up feature 5 times (per year) to copy either full or partial e-portfolio contents to a hard drive and/or cd. • e-Portfolios may be accessed by potential employers through a TaskStream generated URL which students may setup.

  16. Creating Your TaskStream Account Go to: http://www.taskstream.com Click ‘Subscribe Today’

  17. Activate Your Subscription Click the radio button to ‘Create’. Enter the Student Key Code: S7PYZ4-W5TPF8

  18. Join Your Group Click the drop-down menus to select your College, Department, and Group.

  19. Enter Personal Information Please be sure to note your User ID and password. For consistency, it would be a good idea to make this your Villanova e-mail User ID & password. Step 4: Confirm registration info and continue.

  20. Let’s Build Our Portfolios! After signing into TaskStream, locate & click on the ‘Web Folio Builder’ link under Web Publications.

  21. Add Title & Creation In the ‘Presentation Portfolio’ section, add a title and then click ‘Create It’

  22. Select Template Click the radio button to select ‘Showcase Portfolio’.

  23. Select Style

  24. Editing Content Click on the ‘Basic Tool Pack – Showcase Portfolio – MT’ to begin. Next, click ‘Edit’.

  25. Add/Edit Web page Content Rename title. Add your own Introductory text here then click ‘Save’.

  26. Add/Edit Web page Content(Continued) Add your photo.

  27. Add/Edit Web page Content(Continued) Add an attachment.

  28. Add/Edit Web page Content(Continued) Click on Resume from the Edit Structure pane.

  29. Preview Your Webfolio Click on the ‘Preview’ button to view your page.

  30. Publish/Share Your Folio Click on Step # 4, to view and set options (e-mail or web publish) your folio.
