Big Question Will an egg float in hot or cold water? I wanted to test this because I thought it would be fun to find out if an egg will float.
Hypothesis • My hypothesis is that both eggs will not float. The reason for that is because the egg is less dense than the water.
Facts • Neither of the eggs floated ! • The egg in hot water cracked • When I took out the egg out of the cold water and I held it in my hand it cracked?
Materials -Two Eggs -Hot and Cold Water -Two Round Glass Glasses
Step By Step Procedure • First You Put Two Eggs In Separate Glasses Of Hot And Cold Water. • You Wait About A Minute Or Two And Record Your Results. • Pour The Liquid Out And Put The Eggs Back In Their Carton.
Variables • My variable is the eggs and the glass size and shape will not change.
Observations • Neither egg floated. The reason for that is because the water is more dense than the egg.
Data • My data is that neither egg floated in the water.
Analysis My hypothesis was wrong. I know this because the experiment tested my hypothesis.
