  4. Definition The WVU Health Sciences Center promotes diversity and fosters an inclusive environment that nurtures and supports the contributions of every individual. This is essential to the WVU Health Sciences Center’s success in patient care, education, research and community outreach. Diversity refers to the variety of experiences and perspectives which arise from, but not limited to, differences in race, culture, creed, religion, mental or physical abilities, heritage, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, military veteran’s status, national origin, socio-economic status, health status and other characteristics. Creating and sustaining this climate are the responsibility of all who provide service and train at the WVU Health Sciences Center. Our goal is to create a caring service environment in which individual differences are valued, allowing all to achieve their fullest potential.
