Let’s Put it in Practice… “I Believe Manifesto.” Write a manifesto listing 10 things you believe in. Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you believe in using blinkers? Do you believe in using medication? Whatever it is that you believe, put it on your list.
What Tool Did You Use? • Graphic organizer • Web diagram • Venn diagram • T-chart • Brainstorm • Other…
Next Step… Write the first draft of your manifesto.
Edit and Revise • Editing and Revising usually happen at the same time… • Take a look at your first draft, read what you have written
Edit and Revise • Check your spelling, sentence structure, grammar, capitalization • Rearrange sentences or paragraphs as you read to make the writing more cohesive and clear
Prepare to Publish As the final step in the writing process, re-write your first draft with the necessary edits and revisions.
In your classroom • Each student needs to go through these steps as they write • Once they are more proficient some steps will occur automatically • Writing MUST happen EVERY DAY! • Provide correction and feedback consistently
