  1. Storm Safety Tips Canadians staying in GTA and Southern Ontario are advised to follow this tips in the event of storm.

  2. Always keep a battery-powered radio handy in your home. You can tune to radio stations if electricity goes off. Radio station gives valuable information for quick action to be taken in such times. Keep a flashlight on every floor of your home at an easily accessible spot. Check the batteries monthly, and replace them as needed.

  3. Keep sufficient candles on in home for power failures. As a safety precaution always unplug all electrical appliances before leaving for vacation except for those lights connected to automatic timers.

  4. If you live in a storm-prone area, nail down roof shingles or use adequate adhesive to keep them from blowing off in a violent wind. When a major storm is imminent, close shutters, board windows. You can also tape the larger panes with an "X" from inside along the full length of their diagonals. This helps the panes to resist the cracks as much as possible.

  5. And most important, keep a number of a storm restoration service provider handy which you will need once storm is over !!
