  1. TEASER TRAILER ANALYSIS • The purpose of this presentation is to analyze some trailers, going into detail with one. • The trailers I’m looking at are: • Rent • Funny Games

  3. Rent is a musical. It’s been on stage for a long time and it is very successful. This is my immediate response to the trailer. The music is one of the songs featured in the musical, there’s little to no moving image used – it is all pictures and captions of the stage production. There is a sweep effect used in the transitions between pictures/captions. This makes it stand out – pretty much all trailers use moving image. It shows that the film is different, which may be one of the themes of the plot. The fact that it’s images of the stage production rather than the film shows that the producers want to keep to the traditional ‘musical’ genre. Overall, it’s a good teaser trailer. It doesn’t give any of the plot away, or any of the characters. It’s good to look at, and will definitely entice it’s target audience.

  4. FUNNY GAMES CLICK HERE It will escort you to the Funny Games teaser trailer. When it’s finished playing, exit the webpage and you will return to this slide. Please go to the next slide now 

  5. Funny Games is a horror film where two young men abduct a family in their own home. The start of the trailer has classical music, that stops with the closing of the fridge. The rest of the trailer uses is carnival, theme park type music. The clips are short and most change with the beat. There are a few shots that don’t go with the music. The non-diegetic sound is very important in this trailer. The way the opera stops when Naomi Watts closes the fridge indicates a change in atmosphere – something bad is going to happen, related to the person at the door. The theme park music connotes childish fun, it links with the idea that these boys are playing a game and adds a chilling backbone to the trailer. The clips that don’t match the beat of the music tend to be more sadistic or psychotic, which creates a disjointed feel and would make an audience uncomfortable. I really like this trailer, it’s edgy and adventurous. It definitely makes me want to watch the film, even if I know it’s going to scare me!

  6. TEASER TRAILER ANALYSIS Teaser trailers don’t tell audiences much about what happens in the film, but it gives a feel of the atmosphere as well as displaying the genre. With my trailer, I wanted to show the ‘love triangle’ situation – as it is the centre of the film. I also wanted to show the ambition side, with the shots of dancers, to show where the film is set. I used the music to show the atmosphere, it’s got a dreamy tone and the lyrics heard – I still remember – add to the retrospective aspect. Thanks for watching, go back to the video now :D
