Apps to engage the middle • This session will cover some top apps that can help engage students inside and outside the classroom.  Attendees will leave with the list of apps, suggested apps downloaded, and registration for specific programs complete.  At the end of this session, participants will be able to use the following apps (and more) successfully: ClassDojo, Remind 101, StoryLine, etc

  5. Setting up classes • Take 15 mins to set up at least one class in Class Dojo

  6. Remind 101 • Remind 101 is a free and easy tool to text reminders to students • All numbers are fully confidential • Reminders can be sent immediately or scheduled

  7. Storyline • The classic game of “telephone” with technology • Fosters creativity and writing skills

  8. Time to engage • Each group will have a device with StoryLine downloaded • Your group will have 10 mins to create a story • One or more groups will share their story

  10. Edmodo…what you don’t know • We all know that Edmodo is great for connecting with students in a “Facebook” type setting, but did you know it can help prepare them for the ACT ASPIRE test?

  11. QR Codes • Syllabus (SchoolFusion page, email, textbook website) • Scavenger hunts • Instant access to specific website…no more typing in long web addresses • Finally a way to “display” digital student work

  12. Qr code brainstorming • With a partner discuss ways that you could use QR codes in your classroom.

  13. Teachers pay teachers • Source for resources created by (and for) teachers • Free and paid for material • Open in Edmodo

  14. Google Earth • Take your students directly to the location they are studying about • Field trip from your classroom

  15. Sphere (previously tourwrist) • Both web (tourwrist.com) and app based (Sphere) • 360 degree view of popular locations around the wold

  16. iMovie • No more boring Powerpoint presentations • Easy to create movies using templates • All you need is picture (or video) and your ideas…the app does the rest
