  2. How is Provincial Government Structured? After the people of Alberta have voted for their representatives in the legislative Assembly, the government gets down to the business of passing laws, running departments that deliver services, and putting programs into action that effect the province in many ways.

  3. What is the role and status of the lieutenant Governor within the provincial government? The Lieutenant Governor is the Queen’s representative. The Prime Minister recommends a person for the job of lieutenant Governor. The lieutenant Governor also has to Sign a bill passed by the legislative assembly in order for it to become a law. Invite the leader of the party that wins the elections to become premier. Issuing the royal Proclamation that calls the legislature into session. Reading the speech from the throne to open new sessions of the legislature. Dissolving or closing the legislative assembly so elections can be held.

  4. What are the Responsibilities of the Provincial Government? The provincial government has to • take care of the people of Alberta and protect their interests. • Collect taxes to pay for services they provide. • Children’s services • Health and wellness • Education • Energy

  5. How are Representatives Chosen at the Provincial Level of Government? There are some rules! Rule #1 You must be 18 or older Rule #2 You have to have been living in that area for 6 months or more Step #1 First you need to run for a position as a M.L.A Step #2 Then you will need to make a campaign (a campaign company can help you with this.) Step #3 Then there will be an election whoever gets the most votes will become the M.L.A.

  6. What are the Differences between the responsibilities of a M.L.A and a Cabinet Minister? M.L.A • Serve the needs of the people in their constituency • Take part in government

  7. What are the Differences between the responsibilities of a M.L.A and a Cabinet Minister? Cabinet Minister • Meet with the premier to discuss what should be done in the province • Plan what actions the government needs to take • Research, Write and vote on bills.
