  3. Grading Policy • 100-90% = A 89-80% = B 79-70% = C • 69-60% = D Below 59% = F • Weight grades • 10% - class work/labs/participation 20% - Homework • 30% - Quizzes Tests/Projects – 40% Grading

  4. Begin day with warm-up/trivia • Lab groups – assign students #’s – pick popsicle sticks • Allows communication, exchange of ideas • Students will explore Science as scientists • Begins with an overall question • Student involvement of engagement, exploration, and analysis Science Class

  5. Science notebook – notes, vocabulary, labs • Homework – not often, student driven based on labs/activities • Quizzes - ??? • Tests/Projects – About 4 projects per year. In class. Tests – study guide about a week’s notice that one is coming…. Science Class

  6. Rocks & Minerals • Minerals – what are they? • Rock Cycle – how does it work? • Erosion & Deposition • Building Boomtown • Plate Tectonics • Earth’s structure • Volcanoes & earthquakes Curriculum Semester One

  7. Astronomy • Solar system • Constellations & star formation • Microbiology • Microscopic organisms • Classification of species • Ecology • Study of organisms & relationship to environment Curriculum Semester Two

  8. Time is used for: • Additional support and assistance in content areas (This can include tutoring, test preparation, and SSR) • Learning and practicing acceptable social skills, team building activities • Announcements, collecting signed documents, assemblies • Team decides, along with grade level administrator, the schedule for AL each week.
