  4. The Seventh Grade Math Curriculum will focus on 8 Mathematical Practices!

  5. 1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them • When presented with a problem, I can make a plan, carry out my plan, and evaluate its success.

  6. 2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively

  7. 3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others

  8. 4. Model with mathematics • I can recognize math in everyday life and use math I know to solve everyday problems.

  9. 5. Use appropriate tools strategically • I know HOW to use math tools. • I know WHEN to use math tools. • I can reason: “Did the tool I used give me an answer that makes sense?”

  10. 6. Attend to precision

  11. 7. Look for and make use of structure • I can see and understand how numbers and spaces are organized and put together as parts and wholes.

  12. 8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning • I can notice when calculations are repeated. Then, I can find more efficient methods and short cuts.

  15. Standard and Pre-algebra TEXTBOOK • The books are fabulous! They are a wonderful resource for your child. • There is an on-line textbook along with valuable resources at www.classzone.com

  17. The Math Binder…. • Students are responsible for keeping an organized math binder to record all classroom notes and activities. This binder should have two sections: • 1. Notes • 2. Homework/Practice

  18. The Homework…. • Homework will typically be assigned daily. Each homework assignment will be worth 5 points. • The homework will be posted on my website: • You can locate my website through MSN’s staff directory. www.lz95.org/msn • The purpose of each homework assignment will be to review what was taught in class.

  20. E-School • Please use E-school to monitor your child’s grades. • I try to post each day, but if I fall behind, it will be posted by Friday. • I will post late/ missing assignments as well as notes on great accomplishments.
