Formal training • Core curriculum of Evergreen classes • Basic circulation, basic cataloging (copy cataloging), holds and searching (New!), admin/reports • Each library is required to send at least 1 or 2 staff to each training. • Powerpoints, demos, trainer scripts, attendee exercises and cheat sheets • Training server • Related to permissions for each login group

  3. Group discussions • Five committees to establish policy and training. • Executive, cataloging, patron services, IT, eContent • Membership rotates to give new members opportunities to join. • Provides an opportunity for staff to get together on a regular basis and swap stories. • Bi-annual webinars/roundtables • Listservs • Weekly/monthly tips • Weekly Update blog

Individual training • Receive one-on-one consultation and training through: • Evergreen Indiana Coordinator (Indiana State Library): Policy and procedure helpdesk, migration facilitator • Interactions mostly in the beginning of joining the consortium. Tapers off after a few months as a member. • Regional Coordinator (Indiana State Library): Liaison to all libraries in one area of Indiana. • Ongoing interactions with the library and neighboring libraries. Helps to make connections with resources the library might be lacking.

  5. Helpdesk • Helpdesk tickets can be sent 24/7. • Sometimes the best way to learn is to make a *mistake,* put in a helpdesk ticket and learn from the experts. • Support listserv

  6. Challenges • Managing end-user expectations • Changing from propriety ILS to Evergreen • Updating training materials with each upgrade • Powerpoints, trainer scripts, attendee exercises, webinars, recordings, self-paced tutorials • Mentoring potential trainers • Cataloging, circulation, reports

  7. Opportunities • Train the trainer • Regularly scheduled user groups • Bookmobile user group • Reports user group • Expand workshop offerings • Evergreen circulation refresher, etc. • Expand self-paced online learning opportunities
