  4. Designators • A 4-digit numeric code • Describes the type of job an officer does. • Examples: • 1110 -- Surface Warfare Officer, Regular Navy • 3100 -- Supply Corps Officer, Naval Reserve

  5. Designators • Last digit indicates officer’s status • 5 = Naval Reserve • 0 = Regular Navy • 7 = Training Active Reserves (TAR)
