Constructivist and Directed Models The Differences Between The Two
Constructivist Model • Student centered teaching approach. • A more relaxed less structured classroom environment. • Assessment is conducted orally or through open ended written questions. • Students experience less anxiety over correct and wrong answers.
Directed Model • Teacher centered approach. • A more structured classroom environment. • Assessment is conducted generally through tests and written questions. • Students experience more anxiety over correct and wrong answers.
The End Result • Teachers must adjust themselves to what the students respond to. • There is good and bad in both models. • A combination of the two approaches may come out with the best results for all involved.
