Choosing Appropriate Location for Future Proof ICD • Capacity • Distance from the highway • Proximity to Rail Line • Capacity of Rail Line • Length of Rail Line • Proximity to Dedicated Freight Corridor and National Highway • Land Mass (100 to 110 Acres required to handle large trains) • Scale of Capacity should be at least 100 Acres

Multipurpose Cargo Handling Systems • Major Hinterland Creation in Private Space • A quasi space having container handling capacity (ICD) • Future terminals will not only have ICD / CFS but will also accommodate Agri Parks, Cold chains, Bulk Handling Facilities, Collateral Warehousing, Liquid Logistic Facilities (Liquid Silos)
Ecosystem Development • Ecosystem needs to be developed around container terminals which will supplement all the other activities. • This will also bring improvement and efficiency in cost per unit
Hub + Spoke Development • Dedicated freight corridor will create ecosystem for Hub and Spoke model • It will provide tremendous scale benefits • For creation of efficient hub and spoke model we need there is a need to creation separate category of rail operators. • Big Train rail / Hub Operators which will connect to Hub Terminals • Spoke Rail Operators which will connect to hinterland. • There is a need to create this difference and a different plan need to be created for the same. • Create 3rd Category of rail operators who will carry others commodities i.e. bulk & break bulk directly to ports or via hub ports / terminals.

DICT – Location Advantage • Cargo coming from “North Direction” to Delhi passes DICT before entering Delhi or any of the NCR ICD’s. • Cargo coming from “North West” or “North East” side of Delhi can be routed through DICT without adding any cost and with a considerable reduction in turnaround of trailers. • Access roads being used for First & Last mile are much better from DICT when compared to other NCR ICD’s. • “Kundli Manesar Palwal”(KMP) & “Eastern Peripheral Corridor” (EPC)are two expressways encircling NCR and under construction. • DICT lies at a location approx. 35 Kms from KMP passing point at Kundli. • Once operational a lot of the traffic identified in earlier slides will not be permitted inside Delhi.
BOXTRANS • A Category 3 license from Indian Railways allows Boxtrans to offer EXIM services from locations of Pipavav, Mundra, Chennai/ Ennore, Vizag and Kochi ports, their hinterland and Domestic services across India • Boxtrans runs Container Rakes linking hinterland with gateway ports, commercial & trade centers and provides logistics support for containerized cargo. Boxtrans owns rakes and the locomotives are provided by the Railways
