  2. 2 First rail service arrived in Ilford in 1839 via the ‘Eastern Counties Railway’ The Metropolitan Town Centre of Ilford is designated an Opportunity Area in the Mayor’s London Plan Ilford Town Centre, located in the north east of London 55 hectares in size c24,000 residents live in and around the Town Centre boundary Ilford is under 20mins from London Liverpool Street via the Greater Anglia mainline. Redbridge ethnicity highlights, 43% White 42% Asian 9% Black 4% mixed Ilford Town Centre – The Place

  3. 3 Ilford Town Centre – Planning AAP Adopted in 2008 and identifies 35 opportunity sites over 19 hectares, that collectively have the potential to deliver:- More than 5,000 new homes, in the long term. Approximately 95,000 m² (gross) of new and replacement High Street retail, restaurants, café, leisure and cultural uses. Other active ground floor uses (i.e. secondary, retail, service/ community uses, residential/ office entrances) and new/ replacement small scale commercial and employment uses. A range of social, education, health and leisure facilities to serve the existing and new populations.

  14. 14 Ilford Town Centre – Licensing Initiatives Voluntary ban on high strength liquor Police and the Council seeking voluntary agreements with off licences to restrict the sales of high strength beers and ciders so as to impact upon the street drinkers problem that has emerged in the town over the last 3-4 years. Betting & gambling – emerging policies The Council have recently resolved to write to the Home Office and express concerns at the proliferation of betting shops and high stakes gaming machines within the town centre Ilford Cumulative Impact Zone (CIZ) 2010 Restricts the number of alcohol licensed premises, (Pubs, off-licences, Take-aways)
