Agenda Accomplishments Application of ODM Future Work Issues Participants P1J Final Report
Accomplishments (1) Completed a detailed review of latest version of the Orbit Data Message (ODM) Red Book, based on P2 personnel input to separate syntax and semantics and to incorporate use of XML. P1J completed a reorganization of the document to provide ASCII and XML transport options of the orbit parameters and ephemeris messages. Continued discussions of tracking data requirements and write up of operational characteristic of tracking data support and tracking data descriptions, as a first step for producing a tracking data Recommendation. Continued discussion and write up to define requirements on spacecraft ID’s, to be delivered to the Space Assigned Numbers Authority (SANA) for action. Continued discussions on attitude and plan to write a draft for an attitude data message Recommendation. P1J Final Report
Accomplishments (2) Participated in another joint P1J/P1K session, to discuss the timing service issues. Agreed to write navigation timing issues to be provided to P1K and to the new Time Synchronization Architecture Working Group. Received copy of the white book REAL-TIME TRACKING DATA TRANSFER SERVICE SPECIFICATION (SLE related) and P1J will provide feedback. Discussed, reviewed and completed charter for the Navigation working group. Reviewed and discussed all open action items P1J Final Report
Application of ODM ESOC-JPL did a test using Ulysses spacecraft to exchange the ephemeris message (EPM). Transmission and processing was successful. ESA-JPL ICD specifies use of EPM as the navigation operational interface for the Rosetta and Mars Express missions; which are currently scheduled to launch on Jan 2004 and June 2003, respectively. CNES-DLR will perform testing to exchange the orbit parameters message (OPM). Plan to use OPM to support future missions (TBD) P1J Final Report
Future Work Finalize the ODM Red Book, including input from XML personnel. Schedule: Start internal review April 7, end review May 15, then request advancing Red Book to Blue Book status Develop draft for Attitude data exchange Schedule: First draft white book May 10, 2003 Complete write up for Tracking data exchange requirements. Schedule: drafts due April 18, followed by internal review by CCSDS navigation personnel. Complete a write up for spacecraft ID for delivery to SANA. Schedule: Following feedback from navigation personnel document will be ready by May 1, 2003. First meeting of Navigation Working Group week of Oct/Nov 2003, Annapolis, MD USA P1J Final Report
Resolutions • P1J requests MC to approve promotion of ODM RB to BB status, subject to final review from XML personnel to be completed by May 2003. P1J Final Report
