We can hang a picture on the wall or we can hang people that are being punished. • When referring to the hanging of an object, the past tense of hang will be hung. • Ex. “Elizabeth Proctor hung the clothes out to dry on the first sunny day of Spring.” • When referring to the hanging of a person though, we use hanged as the past tense. • “Abigail was to be hangedbut she confessed to witchcraft.”
