  1. Pasta lab You will have the opportunity to taste each paste but will be preparing one pasta and either a sauce, protein, or vegetable. When your items are complete, place them in their own glass mixing bowl with a serving spoon or tongs and place them on the supply counter with a large plate or lid on top. I will let you know when it is time to eat. While you are waiting you will write the recipe for dessert pasta. I will Give you extra credit if your Parents write a note and Send a picture showing That you made it.

  2. instructions • If you have a boxed pasta, prepare the whole box. If you have a bagged pasta, prepare half of the bag. • If you have a sauce, heat it in a sauce pan when your pasta is almost done. • If you have ground beef, brown it in a skillet on the stove. • If you have chicken, cube it and then fry it in a frying pan on the stove.

  3. How do we cook pasta? • Boil water in a large sauce pan • Slowly add the pasta • Reduce the heat to a low boil and cook pasta, stirring occasionally, uncovered until pasta is tender. • Drain the pasta using your colander • Place it back into the sauce pan and add 1-2 tbsp olive oil to prevent sticking.

  4. Dessert pasta salad (frog eye salad)  Ingredients: ¾ cup sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1/2tsp. salt 2/3 cup pineapple juice (from canned pineapple shown below) 2 egg beaten 1/4 tsp. lemon juice 1 15 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained 1 20 oz. can pineapple tidbits, drained 1 12 oz. carton dairy whipped topping  Directions: Bring 3 cups of water to a rapid boil in a 1 quart saucepan. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Slowly add 1 cup Acini Di Pepe. Return to rapid boil, stirring to separate. Boil only 2 minutes. Cover and remove from heat. Let stand 6-8 minutes. Drain immediately and rinse with cold water to chill. In small saucepan, mix sugar, flour and salt: stir in pineapple juice and egg. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Add lemon juice, set aside and cool. Combine cooked, cooled mixture with cooked Acini Di Pepe. Cover, place in refrigerator until chilled 30 min before serving. Stirring lightly, add mandarin oranges, pineapple, and whipped topping. Serves 8-12
