The latest GSECARS update details the partial funding of initiatives via NSF-MRI, receiving $550K for DAC diffraction and surface science projects. A monochromator prototype is in construction, and a vertical mirror is on order. The large Newport diffractometer, funded by DOE, is expected in July. Additionally, the Laser Heated Diamond Anvil System has been completely rebuilt with substantial upgrades, including a new high-power laser. Key technical advancements include high-pressure tomography and angle-dispersive powder diffraction systems.
