  5. 2013-2014 Schedule

  6. Classroom Rules • Be Safe • Be Kind • Be Neat • Be Responsible

  7. Behavior Management We follow a card system in this classroom. Blue – Superior Day! Student went above and beyond expectations! Green – Great Day! Student followed classroom rules. Yellow – We are working on it. Student struggled to follow rules with multiple warnings. Student failed to complete and return binder. Red – Tomorrow will be a better day. Student required many warnings or caused injury to another student. Please know that we try and follow a 3 warning system before changing a child’s card. Several exceptions to this rule include (but are not limited to) touching/injuring another, destruction of property, and personal safety issues.

  8. Additional Consequences • The school has a discipline policy I must follow as well. It is outlined in your student handbook. • A Discipline Referral Form (DRF) is used for minor infractions. The form will be sent home to parents and must be signed and returned to school. • When a child accumulates 3 DRF forms in one week or commits a serious offense, a D1 (Discipline Form 1) is completed. The child will be seen in the office.

  9. Positive Behavior Rewards • Children who have green cards for an entire week will visit the treasure box on the following Monday. • Blue Cards are not usually issued until well into October. These cards are for EXCEPTIONAL behavior – not just following the rules. • The school also has Panther Pennies. These are given to students for many different reasons: walking quietly, following directions, trying their best….even children who have trouble adhering to classroom rules are able to accumulate Panther Pennies. They can then “spend” these pennies to buy prizes monthly from a Panther Penny Cart.

  10. Communication • We will utilize a BEE (Bring Everything Everyday) Notebook in this classroom. We refer to it as our Jungle Book. • Inside you will find homework, all communications from the school/teacher, and important forms. • This notebook must be returned daily and the Responsibility Sheet must be signed nightly. • You may email me at kibrixius@wsfcs.k12.nc.us • BUT, please remember that I am with your children from 7:50 to 3pm daily.

  11. Conferences • I love the opportunity to sit down and discuss questions or your child’s progress with you. • However, you MUST schedule a conference with me. You can send a note to school or contact me through email. • I will try and schedule an appointment with you as soon as possible. However, we are required to attend meetings, workshops, and assist in some activities. I also have two children and sometimes it is difficult to make arrangements the next school day. • Telephone conferences can be scheduled as well.

  12. Welcome! I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner and resolve any issues you may have.
