Author • Susan Beth Pfeffer was born in 1948 in New York. • At the age of six, when her father wrote and published a book on constitutional law, Pfeffer decided she, too, wanted to be a writer; that year, she wrote her first story about the love between an Oreo cookie and a pair of scissors. • Now she lives in Middletown, New York, with her two cats, Alexander and Emily.
Life As We Knew It Miranda’s life is as boring as ever. Suddenly, a meteor knocks the moon out of place and now the moon is heading towards earth. Everyone is hectic, and Miranda and her family are wondering if they will survive. There is below-freezing weather in August, and food is almost impossible to find. What is going to happen to Miranda and her family?
The Dead and the Gone Alex is living his normal life in New York. His father has just flown to Puerto Rico, and his mother is in Queens at work. In a flash, a meteor hits the moon. The world is frightened, and now Alex has to take care of his sisters, Brianna and Julie.
This World We Live in It’s been a year since a meteor collided with the moon, catastrophically altering the earth’s climate. For Miranda Evans, life as she knew it no longer exists. Her friends and neighbors are dead, landscape is frozen, and food is increasingly scarce. The struggle to survive intensifies when Miranda’s father and stepmother arrive with a baby and three strangers in tow. One of the newcomers is Alex Morales, and as Miranda’s complicated feelings for him turn to love, his plans for his future thwart their relationship. Then a devastating tornado hits their town, and Miranda makes a decision that will change their lives forever.
