Tower 15 - Assembly and test highlights tray17 replacement • September 19-21, 2005 (INFN-Pisa) : • assembly of complete tray stack • incomplete cable set (C5 missing, C2 non-flight) • Sidewalls, alignment • September 29 – Oct. 3, 2005 (Alenia-Roma) • TVAC (9/26-29) • VIB (9/29-10/3) • October 5-11, 2005 (INFN-Pisa) : • C5 installation • C2 replacement • Solithane, EMI taping • Alignment verification, final CPT • Full EIDP details at: • http://glast.pi.infn.it tray to be replaced

Tower 15 – configuration Tower PN: LAT-DS-00722 (rev3) Tower SN: 15 Environmental test performed with following configuration variations: • C5 missing • C2-008 non-flight installed in place of C2-020 Delivery configuration notes: • Kapton and poron foam as per LAT-DS-00722 • 4 layers of Poron foam 0.037 THK used on Bottom and Top Tray (–X) side (in place of 5 layers) Alignment well within stay-clear Measured mass 32.920 Kg

Tower 15 – Open NCRs • INFN/PI-589: environmental test in non-flight configuration • the environmental tests were performed with a missing cable (C5) and 1 non-flight cables (C2), as agreed by an MRB • Full flight set provided after environmental test and installed before delivery • the NCR can be closed • INFN/PI-590: cold/hot power off/on not performed • The problem is due to a known and documented issue with resetting MCM (NCR 417) with missing cables • To avoid the many and unknown number of power cycle needed to re-establish a good configuration with as many readable layers as possible, hot/cold switch on and off were not performed • Update SLAC waiver LAT-XR-07340 to include tower 15? • the NCR can be closed • INFN/PI-586: Vacuum level out of specification • The situation is similar to earlier TVAC tests and the proposal is to accept the test as for previous MRBs • Tower 8 performed TVAC test together with tower 15 and its relative NCR was closed during tower 8 preship review on 10/5 • the NCR can be closed

  5. Tower 15 - Efficiency run 306001376 before env-test taken in Alenia after TVAC All layers well within spec (eff > 98%) no changes in bad channels during env test pre-ship data analysis underway – results will be included in EIDP

  6. Tower 15 - Bad channels behaviour X0 and Y17 slightly exceed 16 during hot soaks

  7. Tower 15 - noisy channels behaviour Fluctuation are due to noisy channels
