Good to be Green We believe that children should develop good discipline through positive encouragement and instruction whilst understanding their rights and responsibilities within the school setting. All pupils have the right to feel safe at school; the right to learn and the right to be respected and to have fair outcomes. The ‘Good to be Green’ scheme is an effective way of promoting positive behaviour, rewarding those children who consistently chose to display positive choices, and is a means of being able to track those pupils who find it harder to make positive choices throughout the day. It is a fair and consistent approach and ensures that pupils know the rules and behaviour expected in school regardless of what classroom they are in or who is teaching them. The scheme is very visual, with child friendly resources which allow our children to easily see how they are doing in class. We believe that it is important to promote a positive message regarding behaviour management at all times- ‘Good to be Green’ is a means of promoting our high expectations of positive behaviour throughout our school community.

  5. Good to be Green How it works: Every child starts each session with a green card displayed in their pocket of the Class Chart. If, during a lesson or at break times, a child has to be warned of poor choices , then  the child will be given a  visual warning and then a 'stop and think’ card. These warnings give the child the opportunity to reflect, consider and review their behaviour.  If a child continues to display poor behaviour choices, the child will be given a ‘yellow card’ and will lose 3 minutes of break or lunchtime play. If a child continues to display unacceptable behaviour, the child will be given a ’red card’ and will lose 5 minutes of Club Friday. Children will be given an instant ‘red card’ for breaking one of the 5 non-negotiables If your child receives a red card, this will be communicated to you. Every child has the opportunity to return to green before reaching a yellow or red card, and will always return to ‘Green’ at the start of each session.

Good to be Green • Rewards: • Good to be Green gives every child the opportunity to earn short and long term rewards for positive behaviour choices: • Class Dojos • Messages to parents • Club Friday • Certificates • Friday Celebration Assembly recognition • End of term award for remaining green all term

  8. Homework Reading: Children are expected to read 3 times a week. They willbe encouraged read larger books which will form part of a reading challenge. Maths: Children will each have a TT Rockstars account. The expectation is that this will be accessed throughout the week. Spellings: Spellings will be set every Friday with a test the following Friday.

  9. PE Please ensure that you child has their PE kit in school from Monday to Friday. It will be sent home over the weekend. The PE kit must consist of the following: Indoor/Summer T-shirt with school logo Navy shorts Plimsols or trainers Outdoor Navy tracksuit (jogging bottoms need to have elasticated ankles) T-shirt with school logo Trainers Earrings need to be taken out or covered with tape during lessons.

Expectations • Uniform: • Hair needs to be tied up if it comes down past the collar. • Hairbands and bows should be small in size and in the school’s colours. • Children should not come to school with nail varnish or make up on. This includes transfer tattoos.  • Food and Drink: • Children should bring in water to drink in their water bottles. • Breaktime snacks should only be fresh fruit or vegetables. • School Equipment: • No pencil cases or toys should be brought into school.  • Backpacks need to be a sensible size. • Diary and home reading books need to be in school everyday.
