Drills • Fire Drills (one each month) • Shelter-in Place (once per semester) • Drop, Cover, and Hold (once per semester) • Reverse Evacuation (once per semester) • Evacuation (once per semester) • Lock Down (three times per school year-2 full lockdowns and 1 exterior lockdown) Yellow Card Must do one full Lockdown during lunch Fall semester drills completed by November 1 Spring semester drills completed by May 1

  6. ID and Visitor Badges • Every adult in your building should have a visible employee badge or Raptor Visitor Badge • Students should have a visible student ID on secondary campuses

Radios • We have implemented a District standard for radio communications • Each campus has been assigned a channel number to communicate (1-16) • Please know what your campus channel is • These radios will communicate with other campuses in the event you evacuate to another campus or location • Anytime you are outside with students you must have a radio • Radio communication is different than telephones • You MUST press the PTT button and hold for one second before you begin to talk • You MUST release the PTT button AFTER you finish talking • Failure to do both of these, will result in lost and/or poor communication

  11. CAMPUS SAFETY TEAMS • Main Functions • Inspect designated area on a daily basis to include: • Monitor exterior doors so they remain closed, locked and in working condition. • Do not prop open exterior doors. • Classroom doors are locked when not in use

  12. CAMPUS SAFETY TEAMS • Establish routine building survey guidelines to include: • Identify damaged, broken or missing windows, mirrors, floor tiles, fencing, gates, etc. • Don’t hang items from fire sprinklers • Don’t hang items in a manner that will block cameras

  13. LESSONS WE HAVE LEARNED • Kids hear what you say and read your body language • Rumor control – did you see this happen? • What happened, what did not happen? • What do you share? • How do you respond to parents during an emergency? • What do you text during an emergency?

Working Before and After Hours • Always be aware of your surroundings during arrival to and departing from the campus • Try to park in a well lit area of the parking lot • Use doors that can be visible from the street • No alley or rear doors should be used • Keep classroom door locked while working • Do not open any doors for people you do not know • If they should be there they will have a contact person or a key • Be sure someone knows where you are • Spouse, Children, Co-worker, Friend etc • Be sure to secure exterior door when you entering and leaving • Doors need to completely latch……. please check.

  23. 2012-2013 USDA Regulation Changes 1. A portion of Fruit or Veggie must be taken for a meal to qualify for the program. 2. Grains must be 51% whole grain (phased in over the next few years to give suppliers time to get us the products we need) 3. Menus must meet federal requirements for: a. Trans Fat b. Saturated Fat c. Sodium d. Calories 4. Menus have weekly minimum and maximum amounts of grains and proteins that can be offered. This will effect things like Pizza (no thick crust), Hamburgers (size of buns), etc… 5. 3 Components (not food items) must be selected to make a valid reimbursable meal. The 5 components of a meal are: a. Grain b. Protein c. Fruit d. Veggie e. Milk 6. Some “Food Items” may have multiple components. For example: a. Hamburger = Protein & Grain b. Pizza = Protein & Grain c. Nacho Salad = Veggie, Protein, & Grain 7. Meal Examples: **Hamburger (Protein / Grain) and Milk = NOT A MEAL – 3 Components, but no Fruit or Veggie component. **Oranges (Fruit), Milk, Wheat Roll (Grain) = MEAL – 3 Components including a Fruit **Pizza (Grain / Protein), Carrot Sticks ( Veggie), 100% Apple Juice (Fruit) = MEAL – 4 Components including a Veggie and a Fruit
