Conclusion • Van Ness Corridor vehicular and pedestrian traffic volume, along with street width require higher lighting levels for safety compared to residential areas. • Current LED technology is suitable for roadways with less traffic and smaller widths. A LED design for Van Ness would require additional fixtures and/or closer pole spacing to provide required lighting levels. • Full cutoff fixtures will reduce the pole spacing requirements as well as induce shading in the pedestrian right of way. • Cutoff or Semi-Cutoff fixtures will reduce Sky Glow (light pollution) while maintaining suitable pole spacing, and comfortable levels of fill light.
