The Crusades From 11th to 13th centuries, Christians fought to regain Holy Lands from Muslims Byzantine emperor Alexius I asked for help from other Europeans against Turks (M) Pope Urban asked Christians forces to join Holy War Captured Antioch in 1098 Holy City (Jerusalem) endured massacre 1140 Muslims strike back & control Jerusalem 2nd Crusade by Louis VII (fail) 3rd Crusade by Richard I (lion) negotiated free access to Jerusalem Broke down Feudalism System!

  8. The Crusades Directions: Using your map from yesterday, create a map key of the Crusades. Identify the Christians and the Muslim areas of your map. Make sure you use different colors for each. Also lightly color your map because we still want to identify the territories.
