  11. Behaviour – our expectations As a school we are absolutely committed to keeping your child safe and secure at school. Behaviour for learning is a key indicator for children’s ability to make good progress. As a school we have recently, reviewed our policy and takes into account developmental stages.

  12. Rewards • Stars of the day • As part of the behaviour policy in Year 1, stars of the day are picked each day as a reward for good behaviour or good learning. If your child is chosen as a star of the day, they will bring home an empty bag. They can then choose a special item from home to bring back into school and share with the class the next day. • Stars of the week • Children who are rewarded with ‘star of the week’ will bring home our class bear to look after for the weekend. He has a special diary where it can be recorded what your child and the bear do over the weekend. This can be recorded through photographs, drawings or writing and will then be shared by your child with the class.

  13. HomeLearningsetweekly • We will set home activities which relate to the phonics which your child has learnt that week. Spellings to learn will follow later on in the year. • We will also set a maths activity which can be found online. • These will be given out every Friday and need to be back in school by Wednesday. • Our expectation is that everyone will complete their home learning each week.

  14. HomeLearning Reading – at least 10 minutes daily • Your child will bring home the book we have shared during guided or individual reading sessions. • Please comment in reading diary daily, even if it is just a signature so that we know your child has read.
