  1. Stand-Alone Paragraph Mrs. Bauman’s Super Cool Blocks

  2. Purple Unicorns In the story “The Bad Kangaroo,” the parents demonstrate immaturity and irresponsibility that is corrupting their child’s behavior. When the principal goes over to their house regarding their sons behavior he sits on a thumbtack and Mr. Kangaroo bluntly says, “I enjoy putting thumbtacks on chairs.” Adults normally do not put thumbtacks on chairs when guests are over, let alone, put thumbtacks on chairs at all. Their childish ways are beginning to rub off on their son’s behavior in school. Later in the visit Mr. Kangaroo goes on to state, “keep calm, the firecrackers that we keep in the medicine chest have just exploded.” Mama and Papa Kangaroo are so immature that they think that it is okay to have firecrackers in their home. Small children who believe that it is acceptable to play pranks would behave in the manner that these parents are demonstrating. Their immature ways are funny to them but not acceptable to those who surround them and now their son is picking up on their behaviors.

  3. Crazy Train The baby kangaroo in “The Bad Kangaroo” demonstrates through his behavior that he is a rascal and is learning bad manners at home. He is such atrouble-maker that the principal shouts, “your behavior is impossible!”The pranks that he plays at school, such as throwing spitballs, setting off firecrackers, and gluing the door knobs are not appropriate in a classroom setting. The little kangaroo does not realize he is doing anything wrong because he sees these bad habits at home. The principal is so concerned that he visits the Kangaroo home only to shout, “Ouch! There is a thumbtack in this chair.” In this particular home such conduct is not only common but encouraged. Baby kangaroo is just acting the way he does at home while he is at school. The baby kangaroo gets in to trouble for emulating his parents behavior.

  4. Happy Block The clueless parents in “The Bad Kangaroo” demonstrate their lack of maturity. One of the many ways that they display immaturity is when the spitball hits the principal’s nose the mother kangaroo says, “forgive me, I can never resist throwing those.” Most mature adults think before they act but for the kangaroo parents it is the opposite. The kangaroo parents don’t realize that by throwing spitballs they are setting a bad example for their son. Their cluelessness also is uncovered when papa kangaroo says, “I wonder why he left so quickly.” They demonstrate how naïve they are when the principal comes to the house to speak with them about their child’s inappropriate actions. It is clear to the average person why the principal would leave after witnessing the antics of the kangaroo family. The kangaroo family does not understand acceptable behavior and are very immature.
