Historique 1977 : Cabanas montre, à partir de lymphographies péniennes, qu’un ganglion unique en position anatomique bien définie est le premier et parfois le seul à être envahi 1992 : Application au mélanome malin (Morton) 1993 et 1994 : Application au cancer du sein (Alex, Krag et Giuliano) 1999-2000 : premières publications pour le cancer du col ; technique en cours d’évaluation La détection per-opératoire n’est pas spécifique du ganglion sentinelle (ostéome ostéoïde, neuroblastome)
