Mr.Dwayne Dyce All About Me • My background • I am from Jamaica. • I did most of my academic formation in Jamaica • I grew up with my twin brother and my grandparents who valued education. • I have a M.Ed. from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota • My experience • I’ve been teaching for the past 3 and a half years. • I taught 4th, 5th and 6th Grade over that time period

  5. Homework • Homework varies by student and by teacher. • Issued normally Monday-Thursday. • Homework is used to reinforce the lesson that was just learned.

  6. Behavior Management Behavior Management is key to success in the classroom.. • Follows school/classroom rules • Follows directions • Is prepared for class • Listen Attentively • Participates in class activity • Works without disturbing others • Completes work in assigned time • Completes homework assignments • Shows effort to do best work • Works cooperatively with others • Takes care of personal and school property • Respects others and is courteous • Practices Self control • Respects Authority • Behaves Appropriately in Specials

  7. Planners/Behavior Sheets • Please sign daily!!! • This is our daily communication with each other. If you have questions or comments, please note them in the planner, we look at these every morning.

  8. Reading • We work with a Reading Workshop model. This includes read a-loud, shared reading, guided reading, independent reading, literature circles, and reflection. • Visit www.macmillanmh.com to have your child enhance their vocabulary skills, by playing the fun active games on this site.

  12. World Studies • The continent of Europe will be our world study focus this year!! • We will be learning about several different countries throughout Europe. • We will be taking virtual field trips, completing research and doing various projects.

  13. Specials • Art, Music, Language Lab and P.E. • Each of our specials is 30 min. • Also available to you are Chorus and Strings, as well as the Morning Show and Safety Patrols

  14. Join PTA!!! • Parent and community is VERY important!! • You are not required to chair a committee or volunteer any time, it simply says that you care about your child’s school.
