  1. Oxford EMS News 24 January 2007 • Installation of the new boiler provides COL with a much more efficient heat source and uses a cleaner burning fuel. • We are looking into improving the parking lot by finding a durable vegetation or stable material to fill gaps in pavers. Suggestions welcome. • Recycling – estimated 8 tons of materials recycled/reused by COL in 2006. However, participation has waned, especially for paper recycling. • Please Recycle!! • The exterior of the lab is set for painting and we were able to select a low VOC paint/stain. • Everyone should take a few moments to investigate possible chemical substitutions. • Ideas for reducing greenhouse gas emissions: • Car-pool • Making sure all new equipment is energy-star compliant • Turn off lights when leaving rooms • We are planning to substitute hand soaps in common areas (not labs) with triclosan-free soap. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be provided. • Annual EMS training will occur in early April during ‘Safety Week’.
