  2. What is the Context? • Purple View High School • Total Student Body of 2,000 • Rural setting • Students range from a high SES to very low SES

  3. What is the Goal? • To purchase 3 sets of the LearnPad Premium Class Set of 20 Octavos for use in classrooms to provide different resources for educators from ebooks to games to reinforce the curriculum. For Type I use, it could be used for writing papers and having material electronically. For Type II use, it could be used for collaborative searching, educational games, etc.

  5. Why did we select this for our school? • So students will be able to learn to use different technologies that they may be faced with in the work force • It offers a new engaging way for teachers to instruct their students

  6. How will this meet the needs of our students? • Teachers will be able to determine how they will be used in the classroom to better the needs of individual students • Helps lower SES students to be introduced to technology they would not otherwise be able to use

  7. What is the software and hardware needed? • Everything is included in the set we are purchasing

  8. How will we use it? • Teachers will use the tablets on a check-out system basis • Each department will determine applications uploaded onto the tablets • We will have two teachers designated as lead teachers for the LearnPads

  9. How Technology will be applied ? • Applications for teachers help track students progress through quizzes • Hardware on tablets dash helps teachers control classroom • Applications are more interactive than text book. • Most apps are free, however any android app is available for device.
