  3. To All 2010 Challengers With just 4 weeks to go now until our very special 10th Anniversary brown dog Challenge it’s time to provide you with all the information you need to enjoy your weekend. I appreciate you all live busy lives, but please find time to go through the pack. On the next (content) page we have highlighted the “essential reading” elements of this pack – please pay particular attention to these. On May 18th and 25th we have tele-conferences organised for Wordsworth & Tiggy Winkle respectively to share tips and hints to enable you to get the most out of the weekend and answer any questions you may have. Again, it’s in your interest to attend. On June 5th the safety of all members will be our greatest priority, as such we ask you to listen and respond to our organising team. We also ask you to take responsibility for your own safety and listen to what your body is telling you too – if your body is saying enough is enough, then pull-out (please don’t put yourself and others at risk) Hopefully you will all make it to the end of your challenge on time and in one piece, enabling you to experience that unbelievable feeling of success and achievement. Then in the evening we can all share this success, swap stories and top it all by announcing the money we have collectively raised - hopefully confirming the achievement of our goal – to purchase the Molemax 111 skin cancer scanner. Please remember to total up what you believe you have raised and bring this information with you as you will be asked for this prior to the dogs dinner so we can calculate and announce our big team achievement. I know that myself and all the Trustees can’t wait for the big day and to see you all Mark On behalf of the brown dog Trustees/Organising Team

If you feel your B&B does not meet these standards then it’s up to you to discuss your issues with the B&B owner. 24. Some Rules – both challenges PACE SAFETY/HEALTH This year we have to climb 8 mountains AND complete the challenge in 14 hours – we must finish the challenge in this time-frame to achieve our goal If an individual is really holding up the group (on a continuous basis) and putting time-scales at high risk, the organisors may ask the individual to step down Note: Also we must be back at the finish on time in order to get on the coach and return back to Keswick in time to prepare for the dogs dinner Safety on the challenge is the main priority of the brown dog organising team If an individual has an injury or is in obvious distress and the organisors believe the individual is putting either themselves or others at risk they may ask the individual to step down. STAYING TOGETHER BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF For safety/support reasons it is important that we all stay together, plus this is a team event. Please can we ask that all challengers follow the challenge leader – stop when the leader calls a break, start when the leader says resume Note: Fitter challenges are requested to be supportive and patient of those who may find the challenge much harder Your health and safety is the most important thing on the challenge The organisors ask you to be honest with yourself and pull out of the challenge at any point if your health is at risk – put your health first please! Note: If you are struggling, talk to one of the White Shirt organisers who are there to help you
