Eligibility is one ProjectConnect grant every 12 months
Maximum grant amount increased to $600

13. Revival of AIChE Program Planning Grants Presented By:

14. 14 Program Planning Grants What are the Program Planning Grants?
Initiated in 1997 to help Local Sections with their yearly programming
Supports outreach efforts to broader Section membership
Aids Local Sections in holding activities they otherwise might avoid due to financial considerations
Encourages innovative & interactive programs
15. 15 Program Planning Grants What’s available?
Grants will be available in three denominations:
$1,000, $500, and $250
Grants will be awarded twice a calendar year
Total grant amount available in any year is determined by AIChE Board of Directors
To obtain a grant:
Have to apply
Spend the money
Tell us how the event turned out in a summary activity report submitted to the LSC

For 2008 only –
Apply by September 30th – awarded by October 31st
For 2009 and beyond:
Apply by March 31st – awarded by April 30th
Apply by September 30th – awarded by October 31st

Initiated in 2007 to recognize AIChE volunteers nation wide for their tireless efforts
Support volunteers in attending national AIChE meetings throughout the year
Aid Local Sections in helping their volunteers to continue to volunteer
Recognize those that go above and beyond in their service to AIChE

Meetings and Programs
Hold club meetings every 2-3 months at the Petroleum and Petrochemical College, Chulalongkorn University
Dinner meetings with invited speakers from all over the world (USA, Canada, Japan, Thailand)
In 2006 the section set up a program to send 3 Chemical Engineering undergraduate students to U. of Regina (Canada)

28. 28 Organizing a Local Section First, make certain that a local section does not already exist in the area. Then,
Establish a committee
Organize a group of interested members in your area to help share the work of forming a new local section.
Determine boundaries
Identify the counties the new section would like to include. Boundaries within a 50-mile radius are suggested.
Solicit membership
Contact the Volunteer & Membership Activities Department for a list of names and addresses of AIChE members within the defined boundaries.

Many area industries are eager to see AIChE local sections started, and are willing to offer financial support or help with publicity.

“LDC Lite” Program is being developed with the intent of it being held at the Centennial Celebration
Formal Leadership Development Conference returns in 2009

36. 36 New and Improved Ambassador’s Program Purpose: To offer to every student chapter of AIChE a professional in the field who will come to their chapter and speak about the benefits of membership as well as on a mutually agreed upon topic of professional interest.
37. 37 New and Improved Ambassador’s Program
Ambassador visits are commencing at 55 student chapters nationwide
Over 150 professional AIChE members have volunteered to be an Ambassador
Wherever possible, Ambassador and student chapters were matched locally to provide a stronger connection to the Local Section
38. 38 New and Improved Ambassador’s Program
Ambassador presents on an agreed upon topic of interest, as well as on the benefits of affiliation with AIChE
Evaluation by the chapter and the Ambassador happens soon after visit
Ambassadors will be recognized at the Annual Student Conference

Goal is to expand to at least 70 chapters next year
Possibility of greater involvement of Young Professionals/Recent Grads as future Ambassadors

41. 41 New Student Member Initiative (ScaleUp) provides free membership to undergraduate students funded by generous corporate sponsorships
Student Membership has increased by 3,000 students in the first 6 months of the program

43. 43 Through marketing, expanded communications and chapter visits, there is a stronger relationship between student chapters and the national organization
