  2. The Association for the Advancement of Higher Education and Development (AHEAD) has been the local partner for IFP in Uganda since 2004 AHEAD works primarily in the fields of higher education and leadership development in East Africa

  3. Selection 126 Ugandans have been awarded fellowships to pursue Masters and PhDs in various fields Gender: 51% women and 49% men Degree program: Masters 84% and PhDs 16%

  4. Fields of Study %age Field 18% Public and community health 17% International development 13% Education, psychology and policy 13% Law and human rights 8% Public admin, social work & policy 31% Agric, theatre, economics, environment, gender, counseling

  5. Regional distribution Eastern 30 Northern 14 Central 24 Southern/Western 40 North Eastern 10 North Western 8

  6. Host countries USA 50% UK 38% Netherlands 4% Kenya 2% Australia 2% Uganda 2% Canada 1% South Africa 1%

  7. Outcomes 82% have so far completed their degrees 18% will graduate by September 2013 82% have returned to Uganda 6% are working within Africa 2% completed and pursuing further studies

  8. Alumni Drivers of community-based economic transformation Working on behalf of women and girls Defending human rights locally and internationally Pioneers of initiatives intended to inform public policy – education, sanitation, teacher training etc

  9. Significance Expanded access to higher education for marginalized populations Pool of socially committed leaders who are championing positive change in their respective spheres of influence
