Bali workshop June 2009 • Goals: • Identify MSC units of certification for the swimming crab, snapper/grouper, tuna, and mollusk fisheries in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam; • Prioritize which of these fisheries should complete an MSC pre-assessment; • Understand how to effectively and efficiently conduct pre-assessments at a large scale while addressing the dispersed geography of fisheries in Southeast Asia; and • Develop a shared understanding about the value of strategic fishery assessments against the MSC standard as a tool for making progress on ecosystem based fisheries management in Southeast Asia.

  9. FIP Stakeholder Meeting • 2-day meeting to develop draft FIP workplan • Stakeholders include: • Government, industry (fishers, processors, etc.), NGOs, scientists • Certification body/consultant facilitates and guides development of workplan

  10. Follow-up from Stakeholder Meeting • Revise draft workplan with stakeholders • Certification body/consultant links each activity in the workplan to specific performance indicators • Certification body/consultant writes “action plan” based on discussion/activities from stakeholder meeting
