Pre-Requisites • Pre-requisites must be done!!! • 70% of all problems experienced with the demo data set, relate to the pre-requisite software not being installed correctly. • If you follow our instructions in sequence, your system will work! • Divert from our instructions – you’re on your own!!!

  3. Windows 2000 Professional Windows XP Professional Operating System Environment Demo Data Set Will Not Operate in Other Operating System Environments – Don’t Even Try!

  4. Environment Checking Areas That Must be Checked • Specific Hardware Configurations and Settings • MS-SQL • MS Analysis Services • Internet Information Services • MS .NET Framework • MS Office 2000 or Later

  5. Specific Hardware Configurations At Least 6 GB Free Disk Space • Intel Pentium CPU • Recommended 1.8Ghz • Minimum – 800Mhz • RAM Requirements • Recommended 1 GB • Minimum – 512 MB

  6. Service Pack 1 or Later Service Pack 3 or Later Windows XP Professional Windows 2000 Professional Specific Hardware Configurations Service Pack for Operating System

  7. Specific Hardware Configurations Must Know Machine Identification Name

  8. Right Click on “My Computer” on the Desktop and then Select Properties

  9. Pre-Requisites • On The General Tab Check: • Operating System • Service Pack • CPU • Ram

  10. Pre-Requisites On the Network Identification Tab: Check the Full Computer Name Find the Name Before the “Dot”

  11. MS-SQL Check MS SQL Server 2000 Must Be Installed Service Pack Must Be Installed • Service pack 3 – SQL Server 2000 • “sql2ksp3.exe” • Available in the Service Packs directory of the APAC Demo Kit

  12. Right Click on “My Computer” on the Desktop and then Select “Manage” Pre-Requisites

  13. Pre-Requisites Double Click on: “Service” and Application” The, Double Click on: “Microsoft SQL Servers” Locate the Server Name Right Click and Select “Properties

  14. Pre-Requisites 8.00.760 (SP3) On the General Tab Check: “Product Version”

  15. Pre-Requisites Select Microsoft SQL Servers > Security > Logins Right Click on User “sa” and then Select “Properties”

  16. Pre-Requisites Set a Password for user “sa” to “sa”

  17. MS Analysis Services Check MS Analysis Services Must Be Installed Service Pack Must Be Installed • Service pack 3a – SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services -“sql2kasp3.exe” • Available in the Service Packs directory of the APAC Demo Kit

  18. Pre-Requisites Select Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Analysis Services > Analysis Manager

  19. Pre-Requisites Select Analysis Services > About Analysis Services

  20. Pre-Requisites Check Version Number

  21. Internet Information Services Check Internet Information Services (IIS) Must Be Installed

  22. Right Click on “My Computer” on the Desktop and then Select “Manage” Pre-Requisites

  23. Pre-Requisites Make Sure That You Can See Internet Information Services Displayed in the Tree

  24. MS .NET Framework Check Make Sure That You Can See MS .NET Framework 1.1 displayed on the screen

  25. MS Office Check • MS Office Must Be Installed Including: • MS Word • Check That It Is Installed • MS Excel • Check That Database Plug-ins Are Installed • Change Security • MS PowerPoint • Security Setting Must Be Changed • MS Access • Checked That It Is Installed

  26. Click Start > Programs > Microsoft Office and Check for: • MS Word • MS Excel • MS Access • MS PowerPoint Pre-Requisites

  27. Pre-Requisites To Check for Database Plug-in Open Excel and Select Data > Get External Data > New Database Query

  28. Pre-Requisites This Is the Screen You Will See If the Database Add-in Is Installed

  29. Pre-Requisites Changing Excel Security Select Tools > Macro > Security Change Setting to Low

  30. Pre-Requisites Changing PowerPoint Security Open PowerPoint and Select Tools > Macro > Security Change Setting to Low
