Library Student Aide Duties Main Tasks: • Sign in on arrival – say Hello! • Check in books and other materials (be sure to pull date due slips)- checking for damaged books • Shelve checked-in items • Put shelves in proper order, with spines on shelf edge (pay special attention to assigned shelves) • Check passes and sign-in sheets

  5. Other Daily Library Student Aide Tasks • Check out books and assist students (watch circulation desk) • Work on your long term job assignment • Straighten up the library- push in chairs, pick up the area • Run errands as requested • Other tasks as needed

  6. Important things to remember • Since a good part of your work here resembles a regular job, Willing and Courteous behavior is expected of all students wishing to receive credit. • Excessive tardies, absences, and inefficient work habits may result in reduction of your grade and possible expulsion from this elective class. • Visiting with friends while your are working is not prohibited but should be kept to a minimum. Too much visiting distracts from your job assignment and lowers productivity.

Grading System All students will be graded for their work in the DHS Library Reliability: (5) Dependable (4) Usually dependable (3) Reliably follows directions (2) Careless in following directions (1) Unsatisfactory Quality of Work (5) Outstanding (4) Above Average (3) Average (2) Poor (1) Unsatisfactory

Grading System All students will be graded for their work in the DHS Library Undesirable Traits: (-5) Has too many visitors (-5) Absent often (-5) Talks too much (-5) Leaves work area without permission (-5) Is loud and boisterous (-5) Sent on an errand and forgets to come back (-5) Other Initiative: (5) Displays initiative to a high degree (4) Sometimes goes ahead on own (3) Performs regular duties only (2) Weak in regular duties (1) Unsatisfactory

Grading System All students will be graded for their work in the DHS Library Cooperation: (5) Very cooperative (4) Usually cooperative (3) Helps only when requested (2) Doesn’t work well with others (1) Unsatisfactory Attitude: (5) Very enthusiastic (4) Shows interest generally (3) Shows interest in some areas (2) Lacks interest in work (1) Unsatisfactory

  10. Grading System All students will be graded for their work in the DHS Library Punctuality and Attendance: (5) Excellent (4) Very good (3) Good (2) Poor (1) Satisfactory Grading System: A: 25 – 30 points B: 19 – 24 points C: 14 – 18 points D: 9 – 13 points F: 0 – 8 points
