The General Education Council (GEC) has provided an update to the Faculty Senate regarding the ongoing review of new courses and existing General Education Program (GEP) courses. New courses awaiting review include foreign language options and music ensembles, with submissions for state core GEP courses already submitted for catalog inclusion in Fall 2015. The GEC has completed a comprehensive inventory of current courses aligned with GEP competencies. Town halls and feedback sessions are concluded, aiming to finalize competency outcomes soon. Faculty input is sought on potential grade minimums for the General Education program.

Course Inventories • New courses awaiting review • State Core GEP courses that are not in our current catalogue have been submitted in CMS for review and will be in our catalogue for fall 2015. • new GEP courses awaiting review: • foreign language courses • music ensembles • Others?. • Old courses have been inventoried • All existing GEP courses have been inventoried under our GEP competencies (written communication, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and civic identity
Competencies & Outcomes • Two town halls and canvas page for feedback on competency outcomes & CANVAS FORUM • feedback period for the competency outcomes CONCLUDED - working to finalize those outcomes over the next few weeks, followed by sharing them with the campus. • Advisors working to catch snags • the GEC is working with advisors to look closely at program curriculum maps to make sure there will be no snags in implementing the new GEP.
ASSESSMENT PLAN • the Competency Assessment Advisory Team (CAAT) will be drafting a 2015-2020 assessment plan for the GEP. • Town Halls ConcludeD • The CAAT will have the plan ready for campus review in January, and finalized in March for the SACS visit.
