  2. Big Idea: In order to have maximum fruitfulness you must do something to give God’s Word an active foothold in your heart.

  3. The Hardened Heart: Satan preys on the non-responder. (vs. 4, 14-15) • Because God loves us, He makes His Word abundantly available to us. (vs. 3, 14) • When we hear the Word and do • nothing, we invite our enemy to • steal its life-giving power. • (vs. 4, 15)

  4. If you want maximum fruitfulness in 2014, then whatever it takes, stomp out the non-response!

  5. The Impulsive Heart: Hardship preys on the shallow response. (vs. 5-6; 16-17) It is very common to make a quick show of acting on God’s Word. (vs. 5, 16-17) The depth of the trials proves the depth of the soil.

  6. “God educates and tests our faith by trials that increase in proportion to our faith. . . .expect your trials to multiply as you proceed toward heaven. . . . Do not think that as you grow in grace your path will become smoother and the sky calmer and clearer. Quite the contrary . . .

  8. The Distracted Heart: The world preys upon the distracted responder. (vs. 7, 18-19) The worries and cares of this world often suffocate the fruit God wants us to produce. (vs. 7, 19)

  9. The illusion of riches and the longing for things has a strangling effect on spiritual fruitfulness. (vs. 19)

  10. The Delusion Of Riches We think that riches will make us secure. We think that riches will make us happy. We think that riches will give us what we want. We think that riches will make us desirable and powerful.

  11. The Good Heart: Maximum fruitfulness comes to the dedicated responder. (vs. 8, 20) To bear fruit, the Word must be heard and accepted. (vs. 8, 20)

  12. Psalm 119:16- “I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”

  13. Psalm 119:20- “My soul breaks with longing For Your judgments at all times.”

  14. Psalm 119:35- “Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it.”

  15. Psalm 119:48- “My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.”

  16. Psalm 119:72- “The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.”

  17. When the Word is accepted, it bears exponential fruit.

  18. Big Idea: In order to have maximum fruitfulness you must do something to give God’s Word an active foothold in your heart.

  19. How To Maximize The Word’s Fruit In Your Life 1. Hear It 2. Accept It 3. Focus On It- don’t get distracted. 4. Act On It- do something with it.
