  3. DART – Introduction What am I looking for? • First step is to know what you are trying to understand • Achievement patterns • Enrollment/participation patterns • Discipline patterns • Next step is to ask some key questions. • Do I want current year data or three years of trend data? • Do I want summary data or lists of students? • Am I trying to compare student performance across grade levels, teachers, etc.? • For SOL data, do I want to see all test-takers, or only best score (scores used in accountability systems)?

  4. DART vs. SMS • Trend • Generally used to look at data over months, quarters, years or year end with an overview of all students and by various student groups/subgroups Time Generally used for information specifically oriented to a specific student or classroom

DART – Dashboards and Reports • What is the difference? • Dashboards graphically show trends & compare results in two areas: • Daily (operational) – shows you where you are today/this year • Strategic (analysis) – shows you where you are over time and with regard to the strategic plan • Reports display data in a table format to see details with the ability to drill to related items.

  10. DART – Dashboard Typically designed to provide key metrics alongside summary information by hovering over various points in a graph • Daily View • Enrollment Counts by student groups • Attendance and Membership by school year • Daily Absences by calendar date with pin scroll option • Students at Risk (Future View) • Suspension by month • Benchmark Scores (Future View)

  11. DART – Reports Two views: • Accreditation • AMO • Attendance & Suspensions • Course Marks • Dashboard • Divisionwide Survey • Enrollment • Research Paper • SOL • Teacher Certification • VAAP • Wellness • Write4

  12. DART - Reports Two types of reports are available to you at this time: • Grid View displays reports using a formatted, cross-tabular display of the report data. • Graph report represents data in a visual format, by using Graph View.

DART – Drilling • By right-clicking on a column header, DART provides one or more options to Drill, for example: • Right-clicking on School, then on Drill, offers the option to drill to Student or Teacher • You can get the more specific information from drilling, or you can then move the newly created column up to the page-by section and select one student or one teacher. • Note, when drilling DART opens to a new internet tab so in order to re-prompt, you will need to return to the original tab.

Do you want to open the file now? • If Excel is open, you may see a flashing orange tab, that is just to notify you of the above message.

  25. DART – Printing • From Home Tab select Print • Print Options screen will open, choose your options, click Show Printable Version • The Print Preview screen will appear, if all settings were suitable, click on the appropriate icon in the bottom left-hand corner, otherwise change your options.
