Vimy Ridge, a formidable stronghold, had resisted multiple assaults until the Canadian forces, led by Major-General Arthur Curry in late 1916, launched a well-planned offensive. The Canadian troops aimed to relieve British forces on the Western slopes, utilizing innovative mining tactics crucial for success. Both sides had extensive tunnel systems, with mines extending up to a kilometer. This meticulously coordinated attack ultimately led to the capture of Vimy Ridge, marking a significant moment in Canadian military history during World War I.
