  1. What are Mandated Costs ? • A cost related to the implementation of a new program or higher level of service, required by California Law 1

  2. Mandated Cost Activities are Reimbursable • California law requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for increased costs. • This requirement was first established in 1972 with the passage of Senate Bill (SB) 90. 2

  3. FY 11-12 School Site Claims • School Site Safety Plan • Requires each school district and county office of education to develop and adopt a comprehensive school safety plan relevant to the safety needs of each school. All schools are Required to implement a School Safety Plan • The Stull Act – Teacher Evaluations • Requires school districts and county offices of education to evaluate and assess the performance of probationary and permanent certificated instructional employees. It also requires additional evaluations for permanent certificated instructional and non-instructional employees receiving an unsatisfactory evaluation. • HS Exit Exam (High Schools Only) • Requires school districts and county offices of education to administer the exam to eligible high school pupils to ensure that students graduating from high school can demonstrate grade-level competency in the state academic content standards for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. 3

How to Complete Form 1221 • FY 11-12 Claim • Date& time spent on evaluating & updating plan • Date & Time spent including description of the key elements of the site’s safety plan in SARC (to be completed by Feb 1st of ea. Year.) • Time Spent submitting the updated plan to the district office. • N/A – Leave Blank 4

  5. How to Complete Form 1136A • List teachers • Document date and time spent on evaluation • Document date and time spent on write ups • Enter N/A or Leave column 3& 4 Blank 5

  6. How To Complete Form 1155 • List date of Activity and check activity associated w/date • Indicate time spent in performing activities (A-K) 6
