Action Plan Progress to date
Develop effective communication channels between individual WISCV members, WiSCV Regions, National Committee and key stakeholders so that the voice of workers is represented accurately, powerfully and to maximum positive effect. Committee Action Plan - Aims

Representation • Signed Memo of Understanding with Association of Volunteer Managers • Skills & Empowerment for Volunteer Managers Action Group • Work with EVDC to look at how WiSCV can feed in most effectively • NCCPE v project- WiSCV committee feeding in to initial consultation
Develop the support available to workers through: improved access to relevant, up-to-date materials; appropriate and cost-effective training; well-facilitated regional WiSCV networks; and peer-support via a well-managed member mail base Committee Action Plan - Aims
Support for workers • New conference format for this year to more closely meet worker’s training needs • Discussion sessions led by workers needs • Tightened up the criteria for joining the mailbase- anyone external can still post (if it’s relevant) via a member of committee • Really increased the support for WiSCV regions!
Develop a support strategy for WiSCV members facing the end of dedicated TQEF funding with a package of creative and practical ideas to help secure further funding for our activities Committee Action Plan - Aims
Funding • Information sheet with VE on the future of funding- WiSCV compiled advice to workers • Member Consultation Exercise • WiSCV Response to HEFCE on the TESS Consultation • Raised awareness of the funding situation with key external bodies • Information forwarded from AVM on impact of Volunteer Managers
WiSCV Consultation • Oct/Nov 2008 • 52 HEI’s took part • Word of caution using information
WiSCV Consultation • 32% - TQEF as sole funder • 79% have at least 50% of funding coming from TQEF. • 62% of projects had less than 25% of their funding from their institution/SU
WiSCV Consultation • Future funding issues • 63% recognised the importance of diversifying their funding and were looking to get funding for 09/10 onwards from a range of sources. • 57% were expecting some of their funding to come through the institution’s core funding – or hoped this was the case!
WiSCV Consultation Anticipated effects of withdrawal of TQEF • General feeling from most respondents was one of insecurity • Most respondents were not sure how volunteering will be funded, if at all, in the future. If universities will not use other funding to replace the hole left by TQEF, this will have a dramatic impact on their provision of volunteering opportunities
WiSCV Consultation • Only a few reported being confident that volunteering would continue in some form, which was usually due to SMT support, or SU commitment • There were some respondents who said that volunteering activity would continue but it would be reduced, having to reallocate resources to priority areas or change the way volunteering is provided
Financial Update Spent so far= £ 1,333.20 Total claimed from VE= £ 526.50 Total claimed from institution= £ 806.70 Estimated total for the year= £ 2, 300 Three more meetings inc handover
